Earlier this month, Governor’s Island Beach Club in New York was home to some of the biggest names in indie, electronic, and rock music. The tiny island welcomed Moby, Yeasayers, Neon Indian, Placebo, and Girl Talk to name a few at the first ever ESCAPE Music Festival.

We sent our Entertainment Editor, Sade Spence, and Boss-Lady, Rula Al-Nasrawi, to mingle amidst their fellow cast-aways and find the meaning behind the music at this premiere event. Here’s what they found.
