Behind The Scenes of VH1's Black Ink Crew with Sky & The Glam Squad
By Sade A. Spence
Black Ink Crew is full of laughs, tears, and twists this season. Monday night, cast member Sky and her glam squad hosted a viewing party for friends, family, and fans of the reality show detailing the ups and downs of the inked New Yorkers running the first black-owned tattoo parlor in Harlem. In episode 2 of season 3, Sky is finally united with her boo, Bobby, who was just released from prison. Sky gives me the real on what it's like to have what the crew call a "jailbird boo."
" It just sucks because you aren't able to have them physically you have them in spirit but you want to hold them and touch them" says the tatted beauty.
Even though she's caught some shade for dating someone behind bars, Sky says its all in fun.
"We are a big family and we are all going to crack jokes on each other. As you'll see throughout the season, I crack jokes on everybody too! But things do get a little crazy, you have to watch."
The New York native showed up to the viewing party in a gorgeous black custom piece inspired by Khloe Kardashian's Golden Globes gown -- selected by Black Ink Stylist, Sigourney Salley of Style Gxd LLC.
Getting Gorgeous With The Black Ink Glam Squad
Style Gxd On Dressing The Crew:
"I come up with an inspiration for each season and pay attention to what brands they are looking at. Styling is pretty much about cultivating relationships with more clients and designers to distinguish each cast member on the show." - Sigourney Salley
Going Natural With The Glam Coordinator:
"You will see this season I am taking a change when it comes to make-up. I want to keep it clean, play up skin, play up freshness - beautiful, dewy skin." -Mali of Mali's Magic
Hot or Nah Hairstyles with #BIC stylist DIOR SOVOA:
Silver Hair? Nah
"I'm getting tired of it so I'm saying it is out for 2015. unless it had some pastels added to it... bring out something new and trendy. Everybody has done it. Been there!"
Senegalese Twists? Hot
"That's a style that's never gonna die. We need a style for our natural girls, and they wanna feel beautiful and have long hair... For me Senegalese is in."
Big in 2015?
"People are going back into the auburn color - those bright oranges and reds. That's going to be 2015's color. I don't think the blue, green, and pink colors are going to stay long."
